Nonprofit | Digital PR | Advocacy Organization: 1000 Women Strong Role: Senior Digital Strategist Campaign Title: Student Loan Debt Cancellation — Digital PR & Advocacy Campaign

Overview: 1000 Women Strong needed a national communications strategy to build grassroots momentum for student loan debt cancellation while centering the voices and lived experiences of Black women and other women of color, and generating media coverage that would amplify the campaign far beyond the organization's existing audience.

The Challenge: Build a measurable coalition in support of $50K student loan debt cancellation, generate national media attention, and position 1000 Women Strong as a credible, visible national voice on economic justice for Black women, all through digital channels with limited resources.

The Strategy: Designed and executed the full public relations and digital marketing engagement strategy for the campaign from narrative framework to tactical execution. Developed the petition strategy and digital distribution plan, launched a video storytelling campaign featuring minority women sharing their student loan debt experiences on camera, and executed a targeted media relations campaign to secure national earned coverage.

The Results:

  • 50,000+ petition signatures secured in support of student loan debt cancellation

  • National ABC News feature interview and coverage

  • Earned media placements in Mahoning Matters and Harlem World Magazine
